Kitsap Violins
We are a husband-and-wife team of musicians based in Kitsap County, Washington, with a shared passion for violin and all things music.
Nick started his education and career as a chemical engineer, but in 2025 moved full-time to his passion of lutherie. His journey into violin making began in 2017 with a 2,000 hour apprenticeship with Walter Whipple, during which he completed 2 violins, a Hardanger fiddle, 3 Appalachian dulcimers, and numerous other repairs, rehairs, and projects to master the hand tools used. He has been trained in workshops by experts such as Lynn Berg (Hardanger fiddle construction), Lynn Hannings (bow restoration) and Iris Carr (varnish retouch). He is passionate about people rediscovering their love of music and providing the expertise to get their instruments in peak shape. You can find him playing in classical symphonies and quartets, enjoying a Celtic session on his various folk-style fiddles, or performing as a bagpiper.
Jessica is a talented violin teacher who has been sharing her passion for music with students of all ages and levels for over 9 years. She brings a unique blend of technical expertise and personal warmth to her teaching, inspiring her students to unlock their full potential and find joy in music.
In addition to our individual pursuits, we also perform together as either a violin duo and with our string quartet, the Tanager String Quartet. Our performances feature a wide range of classical and folk repertoire, showcasing our passion for music and our commitment to excellence. Whether we're playing in a concert hall or a more intimate setting, we strive to create a musical experience that is both beautiful and unforgettable.
Our love story began when we met during an audition for the local symphony orchestra. When the COVID-19 pandemic halted rehearsals and performances, we decided to keep playing duets together. The first piece we learned together was the Bach Double Violin Concerto, and we played the Largo ma non tanto movement together at our wedding.
As a team, we are committed to bringing our expertise and love of music to every aspect of our work. Whether you're in need of a new instrument, repairs, lessons, or a stunning musical performance, we are here to help you reach your musical goals.
