A bodhrán tipper with a musical history of its own.
This handcrafted hot rod-style bodhrán tipper combines bamboo outer sticks with a core made from an old fiddle bow. Rather than letting a retired bow go to waste, I've given its wood a new life as part of a tool for making music all over again. The old bow wood provides a lively, responsive core that feels great in the hand.
**Adjustable playing character**
A sliding band lets you adjust how tightly the outer sticks are held together near the tip. Move the band to change their freedom of movement and the character of the tipper, giving you some control over its sound, response and feel as you play.
**Professional bow-restoration craftsmanship**
This tipper is made by a professional archetier (bow specialist), bringing specialist craftsmanship to details that matter. The winding that holds the sticks together is carefully executed, and the leather grip provides a comfortable, thoughtfully finished place to hold the tipper.
As a violin maker and restorer, I enjoy finding new purposes for instrument parts that have reached the end of their original working life. Something that has helped make beautiful music deserves a better retirement than the landfill. With this tipper, a retired fiddle bow gets to be part of making music once again.
